imens sjekk ut mads´ femmenale serie her: http://www.start.no/m/

my scifiseries Major Thomas, which i´ve worked on for a bit has been picked up by the magazine "m" to be published this winter. first we´re talking a presentation of the series and then hopefully they´ll want more. i´m very excited to see where this leads as it´s a fun character to work on and i have tons of inspiration!
keep on the lookout here on the blog and in the book itself. i´ll let you know when it´s out!
meanwhile check out mads´ eminent series here: http://www.start.no/m/
it´s all in norwegian, sorry...

been wanting to find a quicker, more personal and investigative way of drawing, mostly to satisfy my own needs as an illustrator. too often i get caught up in doing what is correct with disregard of what i find mostly fun: textures, manipulation of volume and bending of the shapes. im sure this is pretty light, but i think im onto something...

back from work-retreat.
been away to visit my girlfriend in sweden - for a month. i was offline and loved it.. and got quite a good amount of work done on the book. its now back on track after having been writing on a screenplay together with eminent director andré øvredal - his link is to be found in the link section... under "a".. ehh..
anyways. i took the work to a certain part and then he took over, and it seems to be well on track to being made. cant say much more than that, im afraid:) so after i finished my dues on it for now, ive been diving into the book. deadline is in august/september, after all!
so here are some sneak peeks.. a couple of pencilled panels and a robot-illustration for an advertisement im designing.
also check back soon since ill be updating more regularly now.. and soon youll hear more about Oslo Comics Expo ´08 - which will be a KILLER expo this year!

work in progress
layout - size a4/ 8.5" x 11". this is originally done with a blue nonrepro line, and in this case is converted to grayscale. i like keeping that option in case i feel for going tighter in some areas. the blue line allows for an additional step when you add the gray pencil.
rough pencils - size a3/ 10" x 15". nonrepro marker, some yellow, some blue, then rough pencil on top.
tight pencils - same size as latter. this isnt really tight. its just as tight as i go before i start inking. when i get to areas that need to be tighter ill do those after i ink the inkable areas. this keeps the process more organic and i can allow for the stages to influence each other instead of just having the pencils be a preparatory stage for inking. and its more fun as i get quite restless now and again.
moral, however, is still, as inspector chen says; fancy rendering is no excuse for bad pencils, therefore keep the underdrawing balanced and well constructed.
